Connecting a loved one to Christ shouldn't be that difficult ... I mean, didn't Jesus Himself tell us to go everywhere and tell people about who Jesus is and of the things He's personally done for us? So, why the confusion? Why the hesitency to tell people what He's told us to do? You'd think He'd have people prepared for us just waiting for us to go by! Ahh, but He does :-)

Matthew 9:37 states: The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. So, does this mean that the harvest is Aunt Sue or Uncle Joe or Tio Chicho? You bet! How about the workers ... who are they?

Maybe you??

Leading someone to Christ

Below is a guide to help connect anyone to Jesus

A. Are they ready?

Knowing who they are and what they're about helps to remain connected with them as they prepare to see that there is no other way of removing the sin from their lives that seperates us all from God aside from having Jesus do that for them. Ask yourself:

  • Are they willing to ask for forgiveness?
  • Are they desperate enough to know that God has what they're looking for?
  • Do they trust you?
  • Do they want a life with purpose and meaning?
  • Are they at a cross roads with life?

B. Then, in prayer, ask for strength to do His will. Let your friend or loved one know that:

  1. We've all sinned. You're not alone. Trust and believe that we've all made mistakes.
  2. Sin is the only thing that seperates us from God.
  3. And, in the end, we'll be judged if we still carry that sin with us.
  4. God does make a way, though. Jesus died for our sins so that we wouldn't have to be found guilty anymore.
  5. Jesus is knocking. Will you open up to Him and let Him in?

C. Finally, the dialogue:

  1. So, what do you think?
  2. Do you know what a prayer is? You know it's a talk we have with God about anything, right?
  3. Would you mind if we prayed?
  4. ... God, I ask that you knock on Eddie's heart. Will you allow Him into your heart?
  5. It's ok. Just say. "Jesus, come into my heart. Forgive me and make me new!"

Helping to lead someone to Christ takes practice, prayer and faith. But, if you're willing and God says it's ok, then have fun. Oh, and let me know how things go or if there items we need to address to help this process along. God bless you in your fighting the Good Fight!!
